I mean, you have to be comfortable when you travel, right? Certainly, there are enough yoga pants and flip flops at the airport to drive that point home. But, being incredibly chic AND comfortable is a much more illusive goal.
So, this fabulous and chic tunic from Tôteme, Elin Kling's brand, has turned out to be my travel hero dress.
Here's what I like about it: (1) it looks like The Row; (2) a tunic midi/maxi is totally throw-and-go (requiring no real thought when dressing); (3) in black, it goes day-to-night with the right shoes, bag, and earrings (packing efficiency is where it's at); (4) it is, like, waaaaaay comfortable.
I busted it out for my day-long trek across the continent this past weekend with a chunk-heel sandal, an tie belt, and my everyday gold jewelry. Sooooooo comfortable. Honestly, I sat crossed legged everywhere and still felt proper. My feet never hurt. I was the right temperature the whole time. I could go on. But, I feel like I found a real winner here in the "how to travel comfortably without wearing yoga pants" category.
Also, every other piece from Tôteme that I have invested in has been spot on and a general wardrobe workhorse.
I've included a pic of Mary Kate and Ashley where Mary Kate (or is it Ashley?) is rocking a similar black tunic look for night (I think this was for the CFDA awards a couple of years ago) (the other twin is also giving good black tunic, tho in a much more formal silk shantung).
Also, some thoughts on taking it day to night.
